"WEB ORDER FULFILLMENT"
The awards recognize application developers with
leading-edge solutions that provide tangible business benefits to their
customers and make the best use of Microsoft technology, the Internet, and
corporate intranets. ScanData received awards in Electronic Commerce in the
retail division and Distribution Management, Warehouse Management, and
Transportation Management awards in the Industry and Transportation division.
This is the second year for the RAD awards for which recognition was extended to
22 categories. ScanData was the only multiple award winner this year. "The judges looked at over 100 cutting-edge entries,
and they all exceeded expectations," said Judy Dulcich, retail industry
marketing manager at Microsoft. "We were impressed with the progress the
retail software community has made in the last year and are thrilled to see how
the Microsoft platform is being used to provide rich business solutions while
reducing the complexity of retail computing." The competition challenged developers to create
best-of-breed retail, distribution, transportation, and logistics solutions.
Judging criteria included quantifiable business benefits, best use of the
Microsoft Windows operating system-based technology, ease of use and adoption,
and integration and exploitation of Internet and intranet technology. The awards
were given to firms that develop and implement superior business applications
addressing specific customer needs. "It is quite an honor to be recognized by Microsoft
for our accomplishments in electronic commerce, retail, and distribution--to be
recognized in four areas really speaks well for what we have accomplished as an
organization," said "The bottom line is these best-of-breed solutions will improve service to customers," said Dennis Hadley, president of Enterprise Information Solutions. "These winning applications are pushing technology to its limits in an effort to streamline business processes and enhance the customer experience." ScanData was also recognized for its membership in the Value Chain Initiative (VCI). VCI is an industry-wide effort led by Microsoft to develop new solutions for supply chain information management. "The industry is taking to the initiative very quickly, and we're delighted by its support," said Mark Walker, worldwide marketing manager for transportation, electronic data interchange (EDI) and distribution at Microsoft. "Organizations around the world are very excited about the concept of dynamic data delivered in real time, which is the 'heartbeat' of the VCI." Microsoft is supporting the project with a full range of development tools
that deliver secure transactions over the Internet and the exchange of
information over company-wide intranets. ScanData develops applications that
exchange information in both environments. "This is an example that Microsoft is pushing into the
markets of electronic commerce," said ScanData Systems was founded in 1986 to develop, integrate, and support
distributed client/server computing solutions for distribution and manufacturing
organizations of all industry classifications. Applications have been
